The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

Seeing stars: How sharps bet the MLB All-Star Game

Bettors aim to cover all the bases when handicapping a baseball game.

From what a slugger's batting average is against the opposing starter to how the shortstop's range might be affected by his pregame meal, the goal is to anticipate and predict what is most likely to happen in the game.

It gets a lot harder to do that when you don't know which players are playing, or when.

That's the challenge facing both bettors and oddsmakers when handicapping Major League Baseball's All-Star Game. With managers trying to utilize as many players as possible on their 33-man roster, it seems almost impossible to accurately project the probable result.

Still, there are ways to get an edge when it comes to betting the Midsummer Classic. Just don't expect to find one every time.

"We will always take a look," says Covers Experts' David Malinsky. "We won't always find something we can work with."

The unknowns of which pitchers will pitch and who they'll face obviously generate the biggest challenge for handicappers. But that also can create headaches for the oddsmakers.

"There are matchups that are often overlooked by the oddsmakers," says Covers Experts' Steve Merril. "The key to the MLB All-Star Game is rating the offensive lineups, especially the starting lineups. Pitching is also a key and, by checking recent start dates, you can often get an idea of the probable rotation and which pitchers are likely to see action."

Malinsky says he generally finds an edge on the all-star game once every three or four years, whether it is a side or a total.

His natural inclination is to lean to the under, given the quality of pitchers in the game, but Malinsky notes the oddsmakers factor that into the line as well. The last three all-star games have been low-scoring affairs, totaling 21 runs, but the previous four contests were slugfests (52 runs).

"The total is the toughest thing to figure out," adds Logans.com oddsmaker Michael Perry. "You have to pay some attention to the ballpark when assessing the total."

The obvious trend in recent all-star games has been the dominance of the American League. The Junior Circuit has not lost to the National League since 1996, posting an 11-0-1 record during that span.

"They've just simply been better," Malinsky says of the AL, pointing to high-spending teams like the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox as reasons for the disparity. "We take that into consideration, but so do the oddsmakers. The first thing they do is make adjustments for that."

Making the MLB All-Star Game a more viable bet is that the result actually matters to most of its participants, unlike basketball, football and hockey.

Following a 7-7 debacle in Milwaukee six years ago, MLB commissioner Bud Selig decided to award home field in the World Series to the league that wins the all-star game. Malinsky says that incentive ensures added effort from managers as well as players.

"The managers who are in charge, for the reasons they are in charge (reaching the World Series the previous year), understand that home field could particularly matter to them later on," he says. "It's no secret that the better teams have more players in the all-star game, and the better teams are the ones who think 'We can be there come October.' That really does come into play."

Bettors don't seem to have any concerns about effort in the MLB All-Star Game either. It is the most bet-on all-star game of the four main professional sports, with the NBA showcase a distant second.

"Even before the incentive of home-field advantage, baseball's all-star game was played with (the most) effort," Perry says.

2010 MLB All-Star Game Odds To Win – American League Favored

The 2010 MLB All-Star Game takes place from Angels Stadium on Tuesday night with the National League looking to end its losing streak.

The American League has won the last seven games and not lost since 1996. The A.L. is considered the favorite in the game with a betting line of -121 according to oddsmakers at Sports Interaction. The N.L. has a line of +111 and the over/under for runs in the game is set at 8.5.

Both rosters feature the best of each league, but the national league has hopes of a chance this year because of its pitching staff which features Roy Halladay, Ubaldo Jiminez, Tim Lincecum, and Josh Johnson. The key hitters on the N.L. include Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, and Matt Holliday.

The A.L. roster is featured by a number of solid hitters including Alex Rodriguez, Miguel Cabrera, Dustin Pedroia, Joe Mauer, and Vladimir Guerrero. The pitching staff features Cliff Lee, David Price, C.C. Sabathia, and Jose Valverde.

The 2010 All-Star Game takes place Tuesday night at 8PM ET from Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. The game will be aired on FOX. For complete odds on the game, see below.

LADY LUCK

Tuesday's Best WNBA Bets

Los Angeles at Tulsa Shocks (-1, 164.5)

The total has been dropping like BP stock since opening at 168, and for good reason. These two teams have been making the World Cup look like an offensive display.

Since losing star Candace Parker, the Sparks are 1-6 SU and averaged 68.5 points per game (excluding their last outing against Phoenix, which plays up-tempo like the Suns).

The Shock have lost 11 in a row SU and averaged 74.5 during that span (excluding Phoenix). On Saturday they tied a WNBA record for futility by scoring just four points in the second quarter, finishing 16-of-58 from the field and tallying only 54 total points in a loss to Washington.

"You don't even have to shoot and you can get four points," Tulsa coach Nolan Richardson said after the game. "It was a difficult night for us field goal-wise."

Richardson may be a master of the obvious, but you don't have to be a major in mathematics to figure this one out. They have been combining for 143 points per game against teams not named the Mercury - more than 20 points below the falling total. Jump on it before drops any lower.

WNBA NEW AND NOTES
Bet On WNBA: Sparks vs. Shock

Sharks vs Shock Odds:

It is the battle of the bottom feeders as the two worst records in the league face off in a game that, if not for the insane lack of balance in the Western Conference, would mean carry little significance outside of pride or draft position. Yet, with the second place team currently four games below .500, the Los Angeles Sparks and the Tulsa Shock are behind by only a matter of a few games, with the playoffs a realistic possibility.

The Shock, however, must start with baby steps before thinking of sprinting to the playoffs. Tulsa fans have not seen a victory from their squad in over a month, the last win coming against the Minnesota Lynx on June 4. The team’s current 10 game losing streak is the longest in the WNBA this season and fast approaching the franchise record of 13.

The Shock will be presented a golden opportunity to end this dismal streak of failure when the L.A. Sparks come to town Saturday, as the Sparks too are in the midst of a forgettable season, having lost face of the franchise Candace Parker to season ending shoulder surgery. Since then, the team is 1-5 and 0-7 on the road for the season.

While normally it would take an exceptionally strong dose of optimism to find the light at the end of either team’s tunnel, both can thank the shocking ineptitude of the rest of the conference. Outside the bullying Seattle Storm, no team in the West holds a better record than the Eastern cellar dwelling New York Liberty.

Thus, two teams who have lost 75 percent of their games have the rare chance to make something of the season. It must start, however, by beating the other.

For the Sparks, veterans Tina Thompson and Ticha Penicheiro must lead by example, Thompson with her scoring and rebounding, and Penicheiro with her vision and savvy.

Meanwhile, the Shock will need more of the same from guard Scholanda Robinson who scored in double figures in each of the last 7 games, as well as a season high 20 in the win against the Lynx over a month ago. If Robinson can attack the basket and get to the line, Tulsa will stand a chance.

So which losing streak will come to an end Saturday night? Well, honestly, if I could choose both teams to lose I would. However, the rules of basketball do not allow for such a travesty, so I must make a pick...
When all else fails, go with veteran leadership. Thompson and Penicheiro act as pseudo player-coaches and guide the rest of the team to a win. The Sparks continue on their road to recovery without Parker and notch their first road victory of the season.

Hondo

Hondo's financial foray into the All-Star Home Run Derby ended in misfortune last night when he whiffed with Hart and Wells to nudge the nasty number to 1,120 callisons.

Tonight, recent history suggests the Junior Circuit might be the way to go in the annual Mid-Summer Flaccid Classic -- 10 units on continued domination.
